Biography

G.G. (Gwen) Carbone is a professional auctioneer, an eBay PowerSeller, an antique dealer, and a garage sale junkie. With more than 25 years experience, she conducts 200-plus auctions each year including antique, estate, on-site, jewelry, and fund raising auctions for civic and non-profit organizations. She has worked with many celebrities including NY Times best-selling author, Wally Lamb (her high school creative writing teacher), Robin Williams, Julia Roberts, Bruce Willis, and Paul Newman to raise thousands of dollars with her expert auctioneering skills.

Carbone, who attends 500-plus garage or yard sales at the height of "garage sale season," has traveled all over the U.S. and several other countries including Canada, France, Scotland, and England to find hidden treasures. She is a lecturer and speaker on "Searching the Planet For Garage Sale Treasures," "Bidding and Buying at Auctions For Newcomers," and "Profitable Fund Raising Auctions."

Ms. Carbone is a graduate of the Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI), and a member of the National Auctioneers Association (NAA). She is also a personal property appraiser and conducts real estate auctions throughout New England. She graduated magna cum laude from Eastern Connecticut State College with a BA in English and an emphasis in journalism.

Her hobbies include fixing up and decorating her home with treasures she has found at garage sales, estate sales, thrift stores, and auctions. She stores her excess "junk" in her three-story, three-car detached garage. You can ask her a garage sale question or contact her about your greatest garage sale treasure story to be included in her next book.
